Build a Career on Open Source.

For 30 years, Unilogik has been one of Canada's quietest open source success stories. Small enough that your work matters; senior enough that you'll learn from people who've been doing this longer than most.

Engineering, Not Theatre

We don't do bake-offs, leetcode interviews, or layers of management. We hire technical people, give them real work, and trust them to deliver. Our engineers run production systems for hospitals, lottery corporations, universities, and federal agencies - the kind of environments where reliability and judgement actually matter.

If you've spent time at a vendor or a Big Four firm and you miss being close to the metal, this is the place.

Real Technical Depth

Red Hat Premier Partner. Engineers carry RHCE and RHCA certifications. You'll work alongside people who actually know the stack.

Stable, 30-Year Company

Founded in 1996. Canadian-owned. Profitable. No private-equity drama, no quarterly headcount swings.

Vancouver + Remote-Friendly

Headquartered in False Creek, Vancouver. Most engagements run remotely; on-site visits are deliberate and consolidated.

Senior Peers

Most of our team has been doing enterprise IT for 10+ years. Apprentices are mentored, not thrown to the wolves.

Roles We Look For

We don't always have an open posting - but we're always interested in talking to strong candidates in these areas.

Senior Linux Engineer

RHEL, OpenShift, OpenStack. Comfortable in production, calm under pressure, opinionated about systems design.

Network & Security Engineer

Fortinet, network segmentation, compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, HIPAA, government). Hands-on with FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer.

Automation Engineer

Ansible, infrastructure-as-code, GitLab CI/CD. You believe runbooks are a code smell.

Container Platform Engineer

OpenShift, Kubernetes, service mesh, GitOps. You know what an admission controller does without Googling it.

Observability Specialist

Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, distributed tracing. You can tell the difference between a metric and a meaningful metric.

Apprentice / Junior Linux

You're early-career, technically curious, and want to learn from people who've been in the trenches. We invest in apprenticeships seriously.

The Practical Stuff

Compensation and benefits that make sense for senior technical professionals working in Canada.

CAD

Competitive Canadian Salaries

Paid in Canadian dollars. Bands reviewed annually. Senior engineering roles benchmarked against Vancouver/Toronto market for similar specialties.

100%

Extended Health & Dental

Comprehensive benefits including extended health, dental, vision, and family coverage from day one.

Real Training Budget

Red Hat, Fortinet, Dynatrace, GitLab certifications fully covered. Conferences (Red Hat Summit, KubeCon, Black Hat) actively encouraged.

RRSP

Retirement Matching

Group RRSP with employer matching contributions. Long-term thinking is part of how we operate.

3+

Weeks of Vacation

Three weeks paid vacation to start, plus statutory holidays, plus generous sick/personal days. We expect you to actually take them.

Hybrid

Flexible Work Arrangements

Remote-friendly across Canada. Vancouver office available for those who want a desk and a downtown coffee scene.

No Posting Listed? Reach Out Anyway.

We rarely have a long roster of public job postings. Most of our hires happen through introductions, referrals, or candidates who reach out directly because they want to work here. If anything on this page resonates, send us a CV - we read every one.

Send Us Your CV

Email a CV plus a short note about what kind of work you're looking for to:

careers@unilogik.com

Include: a CV/résumé (PDF preferred), a brief paragraph on what you're looking for, and any links you'd like us to look at (GitHub, GitLab, blog, conference talks). We typically respond within one business week.

What Happens Next

  1. We read every CV. If there's a fit - current or future - we'll reach out within a week.
  2. Initial conversation. 30–45 minutes with a senior engineer or principal. Mostly about your background and what kind of work you want.
  3. Technical conversation. 60 minutes, deep dive into something you've actually built. Not whiteboard puzzles. Bring an architecture diagram you're proud of and we'll talk through it.
  4. Meet the team. Two or three people you'd be working closely with.
  5. Offer. Same week, almost always.

Equal Opportunity

Unilogik Systems is an equal opportunity employer. We hire and promote based on technical skill, judgement, and how well someone works with our team - full stop. We welcome applications from candidates of every background, identity, age, and ability, and we make reasonable accommodations throughout our hiring process.
